Mid-Winter Refreshes For the Soul

In the latest issue of 517 Magazine, I talked about refreshing our favorite spaces after the holidays in a way that doesn’t forget the warmth of the season. I have always kind of disliked the act of taking down the tree and putting away all the seasonal decor. A few years ago, I decided to simplify my holiday decorating by using nature-inspired items rather than traditional red and green. I used fake snow balls to accompany antlers, pine sprigs, berries, and pine cones. So, when I took down the tree and lights, I could leave up the foundation to hold onto a little of that cozy beauty until spring. But, then I saw so many cute things in the holiday clearance that I had to pick up a few things to fill in what felt like a void after sparkle was packed away.

From the little ceramic house to the glittery pine tree candles and an assortment of vase fillers I picked up to go with my wooden beads and old frames to officially embrace botanical apothecary style; this was a great in-between season to cherry-pick my favorite aspects of winter beauty and year-round items that lend to a sense of warmth and abundance in the months that often feel so desolate in the soul.

I have created a list of items on Amazon to recreate this look in case you don’t have the same items laying around your house or in a clearance bin near you.
